The Nea Roda Water Sports Centre started operating on the beach of Nea Roda in 1983. In 2001 it was moved 5 km to Ouranoupoli on the beach next to the Eagles Palace Hotel and 1 km from the Akrathos Hotel, thus raising the quality of accommodation to the level that such hotels can offer.

Moreover, in the new location the water conditions are much better since the place is south and with the island of Ammouliani at 5 minutes by boat, which offers its windless bays, in case of a south wind.
